Ulfur Ceramic Vase – Bronze to Black, 35 cm

The ULFUR vase is a design object in the truest sense — conceived not as a vessel but as a sculptural form that happens to hold a stem. Its structure is deceptively simple: a solid conical base, wide and grounded, topped with a flat circular disc with a hole at its centre. Two elements in perfect tension. Horizontal and vertical, weight and lightness, presence and restraint.

At 35 cm, this is the larger of the two ULFUR sizes — more imposing, more commanding, with a wider disc and a deeper conical base that gives it a presence closer to sculpture than to vessel. It works as a centrepiece on a dining table, as a statement on a console, or as the anchor of a composed sideboard arrangement.

The finish is the result of over a year of research and development. A mineral glaze with natural ore is applied to high-quality Chinese tea ceramic and fired at 1360°C, producing a surface that transitions from warm bronze to deep matte black — a depth that changes with the light and rewards close attention. No two pieces are identical.

Designed by SUNs, a Chinese designer and previous winner of the Red Dot Award, as part of the East+West collection by Element Accessories. The ULFUR series was selected for the innovation competition at Maison&Objet 2022.
