Ulfur Bronze-to-Black Ceramic Architectural Vase

The Ulfur vase is unlike anything else in the room. Where most vases are a single form, the Ulfur is a composition — a conical cylinder base with a round disc plate, pierced at the centre, resting inside it. Two elements in dialogue, balanced and resolved, creating a silhouette that reads differently from every angle and invites the eye to keep looking.

The surface carries the same mineral glaze as the rest of the collection: natural ore, kiln-fired at 1360°C, transitioning from warm, luminous bronze at the base to a deep, lustrous black at the top. A finish that took over a year of R&D with ceramic experts to perfect, and one that shifts subtly with the light — never quite the same twice.

Part of the Ulfur series designed by SUNs, winner of the Red Dot Award, and part of the same East+West collection that was selected for the Innovation Competition at Maison&Objet 2022. The clay body is high-grade Chinese stoneware — the same material used in traditional teapot making — chosen for its density, tactile warmth, and ability to withstand extreme firing temperatures. The series represents a new chapter in Chinese design: not made in China, but designed in China.

At 20 cm tall, the Ulfur works as a standalone sculptural object on a console, shelf, or side table. It holds a single dried stem through the disc opening with quiet drama, or stands alone as a pure object of craft and architectural thinking.
